We've also restored dashboard access to WA VMs. VNC (and internet access, obviously) is not going to work until the attack stops, but serial is functional in case you need to grab any small files.

Just an update, the attacker switched to saturating our ports after we successfully mitigated the low bandwidth attacks. Currently we have no way of mitigating high bandwidth attacks in WA. Therefore, kyun.sh was moved off WA and is back online.

Attack has been mitigated on WA, kyun.sh is back up. We had to rate limit ICMP, so ping packet loss is normal. TCP/UDP should work normally for the most part.

We're currently getting hit with a major DDoS attack across all locations. WA is down (due to lack of heavy-duty mitigation) and our RO upstream is currently not announcing our IP ranges (not sure why yet). Surprisingly, NL is the only location that's still up.

To clarify, we don't know who is behind this attack, we don't know why we're being targeted. We have seen other providers being hit with random attacks recently as well, most likely by the same people. It is summer after all.

🚨 CVE-2026-53359 (Januscape) is a new guest-to-host KVM escape exploit. We have rebooted all nodes to patch this, Kyun is no longer vulnerable. If you run any untrusted VMs with nested virtualization enabled, update your kernels or disable nested virt NOW.

After the cooling situation in the datacenter was resolved, the server is not booting anymore. We don't know why, our upstream is unable to troubleshoot, and we also have no way of sending someone competent there. In the meantime, we have asked for offers from multiple datacenters, both in the Netherlands and other datacenters in Romania where we would have direct personal hands-on access to servers. If our current upstream manages to get the server back up, we will give you time to copy or move your data before proceeding with the migration. We are doing everything in our power to get this server back up as soon as possible. Regardless of what happens, your data is safe. Mymy, our node in the Netherlands, has been going up and down, because, get this: the INTAKE of the server is at 43 degrees celsius, which is above the 41C threshold that the server shuts itself off at to prevent damage. We are currently considering the option of leaving the Netherlands altogether because our experience with all of the upstreams we've tried has been ridiculously bad and not up to our standards.
