As one of your top affiliates (LearnWire) I have said for a long time that LTD is not sustainable. Unless the company can prove a distribution and customer acquisition model on their own and get real monthly paid customers, the tools and this LTD model just won't make it.
Deals launch on Appsumo, catch traction and any money in the vendors pockets has to pay the tab for all the money they spent building the tool. So they essentially may make $0 on the launch. Then they have hundreds or even thousands of customers who are not promised lifetime access to the tool and are also expecting weekly/monthly updates to the software. Meanwhile, the vendor is broke, and eventually the dreaded email comes out: they have to close down shop. Rinse/Repeat.
This is why I have always been a fan of monthly/annual recurring business models. The premium/best software for any industry or niche is always monthly paid to use the tool.
Unfortunately, the current LTD model is just not going to survive in 2026 and beyond. Because in order for software to be worthy of paying for, it's going to be using the latest/greatest AI models, which costs lots of money from the devs. Also the software needs to solve a real problem, workflow, and save time. Therefore needs to be unique and worthy of someone paying monthly for.
So LTD is out, and monthly has to be the solution going forward. So providing monthly deals to tools that are already established would be an amazing game plan IMO.
I respect and appreciate your courage to make this post, i know it was not easy. I wish nothing but the best for Appsumo. I'm not a hater and don't want to see your awesome company fall. You got this, Noah!
