@NannrTickl @AgileJebrim @YIMBYman yeah the traffic time change in DFW suburbs from 2000 to 2025 is INSANE. Meanwhile traffic/commutes INSIDE the CBD I reckon hasn’t changed much at all. They also have many other forms of getting around to avoid driving anyway. They can eat/play/work/live all within two blocks

@AgileJebrim @NannrTickl @YIMBYman driving from north Richland hills to my gym near Whole Foods in colleyville after work to make my D1 gym class was like 35 minutes at 5pm in 2023 man quit the pretending. Traffic is a sprawl issue, not a high density issue. Highest density means many live within walking distance

@AgileJebrim @NannrTickl @YIMBYman Alliance town center, northwest high school, hurst tx, Justin tx, Denton tx, watauga tx, lake worth tx, Keller tx, just driving from colleyville to Haslet at 5pm is hell man be for real

@AgileJebrim @NannrTickl @YIMBYman I did not ever at any time, nor did I know anyone else who drove into the Fort Worth CBD for work while living in North Texas. Not a single one. The traffic congestion was when coming HOME to these areas not even leaving them in the morning. Its ok to be wrong about this

Public transportation is literally slower everywhere it’s been tried compared to driving. It would also only worsen traffic congestion, as I already explained regarding the train problem. More people work at Alliance than live in Haslet. No, my fix is not to make it high density. My fix is to spread jobs across the sprawl such that people don’t need to drive particularly far and certainly not to any single CBD.

@AgileJebrim @NannrTickl @YIMBYman 4) lack of alternative means of transportation like trains, trams, buses, monorails, subways Also everyone in Haslet cannot all work 10 minutes away. That’s called a city. Your fix for low density traffic is to make it high density. Live/work in the same area, that’s the city

The traffic there is compounded by a few things: 1) Limited road options. As sprawl spreads to the area and new highway options are opened up, new routes will open up as well. You can’t just have I-35W and 377 as your sole options. 2) Freight rail traffic. Alliance is incredibly busy and many of the roads there end up blocked off by trains. 3) The destination you’re heading to has density. If a bunch of people are driving all to the same dense destination (e.g. Downtown Fort Worth) then you will have traffic congestion as you get converge towards it.

@AgileJebrim @NannrTickl @YIMBYman the traffic I experience in the city center of downtown Dallas now moves at more than double the pace of the traffic we all had to endure in Haslet, Rhome, Justin, Roanoke, Keller, Western Center, Watauga at 5pm. It’s not even CLOSE. Suburbs traffic is HELL

@AgileJebrim @NannrTickl @YIMBYman “Traffic is only a problem for high density communities” is an INSANE take. Coming from a guy who lived for 25 years in HASLET, I can tell you trust traffic is the direct result of sprawl and strict suburban-style zoning with zero transit in a fully car-dependent society

@Samurai_Bat @TallRomanStatue it is explicitly not. Read the original post and all quotes leading to this one. He is claiming that Dallas is a ‘maga’ city and that it is beautiful because of that.

@loganxfarmer @SolCorona01 @barely_th3re Libs burned down cities, looted businesses, caused billions of dollars in damages (in the cities they fucking live in) and multiple lives lost all bc a crack head overdosed. Who’s the snowflake here again?

@HarryBaulsac @SolCorona01 @barely_th3re Literally how lol, you’re the one throwing ‘snowflake’ around but me mentioning a historic event that ACTUALLY HAPPENED as a result of the political party’s lack of emotional control is something a “sign of low IQ”. Fuck off you lost the argument already😂

@BoredElonMusk Dallas if Love Field was not built extremely close to downtown, resulting in city-wide height restrictions that keep all of our towers short.

@John_Nada86 @EG_Buckeye @barely_th3re Manufacturing being pushed to china started prior to 1990 and worker’s unions have been around for nearly a century. Those good wages are likely the DIRECT result of those unions. It’s almost like you need to leave this conversation to the grown ups

@loganxfarmer @EG_Buckeye @barely_th3re The avg pay for a GM assembly line employee in 1990 was $15.50-17.50. That's equivalent to $39.49-43.95 today. For an easy assembly job requiring no education, thats more than fair pay, thats phenomenal pay. It's almost like you have no idea what you're fucking talking about

@dorkburger84 @EG_Buckeye @barely_th3re do you struggle with reading comprehension? what part of “corporations moved their manufacturing offshore to AVOID paying FAIR wages for American work” did you not get? Would you rather go perform slave labor for minimum wage and tell me if you get it then ?

@HarryBaulsac @SolCorona01 @barely_th3re and great friends with everyone on the right wasn’t he? as a matter of fact I think quite a few of them visited his home on an occasion or two 🤔. Actually I think the president and him had a lot in common
