I just finished reading “The Dark that Doesn’t Sleep” by Simon Mockler. Wow, what a great read! This is a masterpiece. The author is definitely no ordinary writer. The first half feels like a mystery, then it shifts gears into an adventure novel that took me back to the stories I loved as a kid. Set during the Cold War era in the Arctic, the protagonist is a psychiatrist called in by the CIA to assess the sole survivor of a fire at a secret military base in Greenland. Every small oddity and mystery leads to even bigger ones, and just when you think you’ve got it figured out, the plot takes another unexpected twist. The pacing is perfect, with surprises and plot twists driving the story right up to the very end. I can’t recommend this enough!
