can someone unpack the dynamics of the san francisco bay area because how are so many elite level athletes from there

@betterisboring @afterlauqhter the bay is just SO interesting haha. i work at a college where families are super affluent, super resourced. and then you drive 10-15 mins and it’s like the complete opposite

@mishlapi @afterlauqhter oh interesting, i go to school with lots of people from the bay area whose families can fork out hundreds of thousands to be here out of state, so i guess ive really only learned about the area from that lens

@afterlauqhter @betterisboring my hs was very stand and deliver vibes and the one thing i felt they prided themselves in was our track program (we had someone in the olympics one year i think lol)

@afterlauqhter @betterisboring depends though. the bay area has a large income inequality gap. would say also lots of folks depending on where they’re from see sports as a way out / or a pathway to move up. and also YEP! people got money
