NEW FDIC HEAD: TRAVIS HILL I am thrilled to see DJT nominate Travis Hill for head of the FDIC. Hill criticized US restrictions on banks handling digital assets for clients. I wrote three op-eds criticizing regulatory policy: (1) WSJ: Proposed a framework for sensible digital asset regulation with clear interpretive guidance > SEC Chair Atkins is taking the right steps (2) American Banker: "In Defense of Decentralization" Defended Tokenization and responded directly to then OCC Chair's question 'why does Tokenization' matter (3) American Banker: Made the case that technology firms should have the ability to own banks. It makes no sense that Amazon doesn't have a bank branch in every Whole Foods. Or, that Google or Meta need to rely on antiquated banking rails to service their customers. My prior startup, PeerIQ, sold risk management software to the FDIC and saw first hand the gaps in technology that the vast majority of community banks have. Then I joined Cross River and built the first and only Digital Assets business to obtain FDIC non-objection to : (i) Custody, (ii) Lend, and (iii) facilitate exchange of digital assets. With all the policy swinging in the right direction, I've decided it's time buy a bank and bring it into the 21st century. A modern bank with a digital UX, cross-asset class services, that integrates banking and wealth management. The bank will focuses on the banking the market that suffered the most under Chokepoint 2.0. Many community banks are going to lose relevance in the age of Digital Assets. If you want to sell a community bank, or be part of a crypto-native consortium to acquire a bank, DM me here or on LI. Let's go!

@AviFelman @rootslashbin @DepecheNode_ Are you lumping in entrepreneurs into the managerial class here? I’ve found serial founders/builders to often have those same traits while having more variance in interests & belief systems.

I actually find these people the most interesting, they’re all intelligent, very fun people, hard working. They just have different priorities of me because they’re still working. They also don’t have the crypto brain worms is nice. And there’s also a reason for the status game! If you play the status game, you make more money because you meet the right people, you find the right wife, etc.

I need to start tagging which subgroup I’m targeting with takes. This is obviously not universal, it’s a take aimed at the managerial class of tier 1 cities and no one else. I just happen to be surrounded by those people.

Travel is far too accessible, it is a status symbol is no longer. When every Joe Dick and Harry can go to Capri for a week. The next form of status will either be staying where you are and building roots OR doing real, off the beaten path adventuring

@paulg Bicycles are also surprisingly dangerous, at 4x the deaths vs cars per billion journeys.

Wow, I didn't realize the difference between cars and motorcycles was this big. Motorcycles are 29x more dangerous.

I was a night janitor at Stanford. No degree, just trying to pay rent. Solved problems left on whiteboards during breaks. Someone noticed. Next thing I knew, I was in rooms I never thought I belonged in. Fast forward today? Have my MBA from Harvard, a MENSA certification, 6-pack abs, and a skill that earns me $10k a month (before taxes).

@ViktorBunin Politicians scared of the optics because American voters think public servants should work for free. Instead you get opaque palm greasing and insider trading, which is way worse imo

This paper got a bunch of stats wrong, but the point stands that Singaporean ministers are highly compensated compared to other countries. It makes sense - in the US each member of congress is responsible for $13bn of spend. Why the fuck do they only get paid $174k per year???
KingoftheCoast@kingofthecoastt

Top pay in the Singaporean government is kind of crazy. Base salary tied to the top 0.02% of earners, and bonuses tied to macroeconomic aggregates.

Bottom line? SEC dismissal removes regulatory overhand but doesn't address: ❌Questionable leadership ❌Poor business execution ❌No product-market fit / users ❌Pattern of employee mistreatment ❌Financial mismanagement ❌98% token decline The dismissal ≠ innocence. #DYOR before investing. Personally I would not touch $DRGN with a fifty-foot pole. But for whichever fools are still punting on a dead project, it's your money!

@j0j0r0 @dragonchain @Disney @Starbucks The current narrative: Dragonchain's victory announcement reads like pure PR spin, thanking Trump and calling it a "historic victory." But dismissals due to policy changes ≠ vindication of business practices or technology merit. The fundamentals of Dragonchain are still garbage.

Not long after Ethereum went live I cleaned out a Best Buy and turned my mom's apartment into a sweat lodge running miners. I was pulling so much power out of every circuit in her apartment that even turning on the microwave would trip a breaker and it would be lights out lol
