Anyone that thinks AI is even REMOTELY good at writing is a terrible writer I've been giving SOTA models pages and pages and pages of my writing for the last 3 years as examples, and they still can't produce a single paragraph that I'd be comfortable putting my name on

you are correct. it's all dunning-kreuger. people who don't write well think it writes well. people who don't code well think it codes well. people with no taste think it does are well. whereas the reality is that it does fine on all these things which does improve a lot of people's stuff. they are just too ignorant (myself included for many domains) to recognize it's actually not very good.

It is crazy how good Apple Silicon is. I have an M2 Macbook Pro from 4 years ago. It isn't slow. The battery lasts forever. The fan never turns on. I can't imagine upgrading for another 3-5 years.
