Nerding out on mixology because everything worth doing is worth doing well. 🍺 🍸 @nerdlandbe

I saw "Maggie Smith" was trending this morning, so tweeting out one of my all-time favorite @maggiesmithpoet poems (from the *real* Maggie Smith)! "If you drive past horses and don't say horses you're a psychopath..." God, I love this poem!

@disruptivedean Indeed. Three corners: capacity (both less high throughput and many low throughput); reliability; and latency. M.

“Expect throughput fluctuations” “Have a fallback source” “Look for congestion” I’m coining a new acronym: FRLLC Fairly-Reliable Low Latency Communications In reality, 5G's awful & infamous triangle should have had UR & LL as separate vertices (along with FWA)

I'm often critical of @GSMA and broader mobile industry overhype of #5G, but this guide for app developers seems much more rooted in the real world Expect gaps & variability. Think about uplink & energy consumption. Have fallbacks etc. Sensible gsma.com/aboutus/workin…

This picture shows how cycling increases the catchment area of a train station or public transport hub, without need for extensive car parking. Cycling range ~ 3x walking range --> 9x catchment area (e-bikes even 36x!). Source: itf-oecd.org/improved-cycli…

@ylecun @benedictevans People worry that computers will get too smart and take over the world, but the real problem is that they're too stupid and they've already taken over the world. Pedro Domingos

1- Long-termist AI ethicists: OMG, AI will destroy use because it's too smart! 2- Short-termist AI ethicists: OMG AI will destroy society because it's too stupid! Both #1 and #2 underestimate human intelligence, learning abilities, and resilience.

Ok. Hopping on #micromobility. E-bikes didn’t work since I need to combine with public transportation segments (and don’t mention folding abominations). Runcommuting is great but not for every day. So.

@NickPinkston @gigastacey @kmikeym A good comment - the transitor dimensions are not reflected by this number. Think of it more as an “equivalent” size. Not just the gate has to shrink - everything else and esp. the metal interconnections (“the back end”) - that is where this innovation plays.

@RuuDii Still happy with fenix 6X. Never hit limit. Likely new model out now. Last one was Fenix 3 - that one cut out after 18 hours. Never ran 30 hours though.

De batterijduur van mijn Polar Vantage M2 is na twee jaar al serieus verminderd, dus op zoek naar een sportswatch die het liefst minstens 30u meekan. Welke raden jullie aan?

@patio11 Expand the growth curve into taylor series, integrate.

“Why does a very good graph look like a cumulative graph?” It’s late at night and I am unable to justify this intuition beyond “Isn’t that just how integrals work”, but maybe I’ll take out paper to sketch it tomorrow/

The subtle flex that is an investor update graph including the words “(not cumulative)” in the title. *chef’s kiss*

@patio11 Because the better the growth i.e. the closer to exponentional, the smaller the relative difference (up to a factor) between the growth curve and the cumulative growth curve. Higher powers will have a smaller relative difference as integration always only buys you x.
