Amnesty is certainly not free from criticism and on many occasions do get things wrong. As someone who visited numerous families in Iran and protestors, I can confirm rioters were armed and killed ordinary Iranians on the streets. @achilles_healed @A13Beast Yes and no. The American military has had this area under study for decades now and never did anything because the position is almost untenable. Sand, rock, hostiles, multiple islands in current use as Chinese Silkworm bases. A hellish quagmire doesn't even begin to describe it.

I'm not a military man, but I don't think trying to take the Strait of Hormuz by force is a good idea, and for a variety of reasons.
