I’m no restaurant critic but delighted to see Jeremy King working the tables so diligently every night at Simpsons in The Strand which he reopened this month 6 years after the Savoy shut it.
The place was packed but it’s not for the faint-hearted with a SINGLE langoustine costing £12.50.
Beef is served from the trolley with pies to die for; Curried mutton, chicken and leak, steak and ale, ox cheek pudding and the Simpsons fish pie.
Particularly pleased that Jeremy King has a hit on his hands as he was forced out of The Wolsey ( he created it almost single-handedly) by the Thai majority shareholders.
Revenge is a dish best served cold. With 12.5% service charge.

RIP Pete
Pete was a regular on the coach trips when I travelled all over England, and the odd trip into Wales in our Southern Premier league and Conference League days when Weymouth were one of the best non-league teams in the country.

Weymouth Football Club was saddened to learn of the recent passing of long-time volunteer and supporter Pete Norman. Pete, alongside his wife Caroline, gave many years of dedicated service to the club, volunteering in the hotdog stand both at the old Recreation Ground and later at the Bob Lucas Stadium. Their commitment and warmth played an important part in creating the matchday experience so many supporters enjoyed. Pete’s funeral took place on Wednesday, 25th March at Weymouth Crematorium, where family and friends gathered to celebrate his life. We thank Pete for his years of support, hard work and loyalty to the Terras. Our thoughts his family and all who knew him at this difficult time. Rest in peace, Pete 💜💙
