The EU still relies heavily on imported fossil fuels in most sectors, making it vulnerable to price shocks 📈 With the EU power sector’s relatively low fossil reliance (19%) – electrification with homegrown wind and solar, can enhance energy security 🔐 ember-energy.org/latest-insight…

We're having the second energy price crisis in five years caused by volatile global fossil fuel markets. Now imagine how bad the crisis would be in the EU if the electricity mix still looked like it did 20 years ago. Electricity mix fossil share 2005 → 2025 🇩🇰Denmark: 73% → 9% 🇵🇹Portugal: 82% → 19% 🇳🇱Netherlands: 88% → 46% 🇮🇪Ireland: 93% → 52% 🇪🇸Spain: 66% → 25% 🇬🇷Greece: 89% → 50% Domestically produced clean energy → energy independence

I know there is some overlap between open source and anti-AI activists, but I have a hard time reconciling it. My million+ open source LOC were always intended as a gift to the world. Yes, I would make arguments about how it would strengthen our communities, and the GPL would prevent outright exploitation by our competitors, but those were to allay fears of my partners to allow me to make the gift. AI training on the code magnifies the value of the gift. I am enthusiastic about it! Some people do look at open source as a tool for social change, career advancement, or reputation building, but those are all downstream of the gift.
Rich Whitehouse@DickWhitehouse

Genuinely devastating take to see from someone who popularized the GPL across so many communities. Fails to appreciate the social and cultural importance of the license.

Open Telemetry + Claude Code = 🤯 I've invested some time to get proper traces in my Phoenix app. Now they're exported to Honeycomb. I've connected claude code to Honeycomb MCP... ...and it now goes through all the live views optimizing them 💜 Amazing. #myelixirstatus

someone built an OPENSOURCE MILITARY RADAR that tracks multiple targets up to 20km away its called AERIS-10, full github repo schematics, PCB layouts, FPGA code, python GUI, everything under MIT license commercial phased array radar starts at $250,000. military surplus is $10,000-50,000 but its decades old analog junk with no electronic beam steering this does electronic beam steering at 10.5GHz, pulse compression, doppler processing, multi-target tracking on a real time map two versions: 3km range with patch antenna array, 20km range with 32x16 slotted waveguide array and GaN AMPLIFIERS custom frequency synthesizer, 16 front-end chips, FPGA doing all signal processing, GPS and IMU for ACCURATE target coordinates when the platform moves all gerber files included so you can order the PCBs and build it yourself one person built what defense contractors charge a quarter MILLION for and open sourced it

OpenAI published a repo with the code to orchestrate AI agents built primarily with Elixir (96.1%): github.com/openai/symphony. While explaining why they chose Elixir, they say that - It is great for supervising long-running processes - It has an active ecosystem of tools and libraries - It supports hot code reloading without stopping actively running subagents, which is very useful during development. Amazing news for the Elixir community; I hope even more people will appreciate how amazing Elixir is for agentic AI systems. #myelixirstatus

You need to teach it the right style. Out of the box it behaves like a Python programmer that just did an Elixir training. So in AGENT.md or whatever the tool is using I put (or actually have it put) the same things one would need to teach such a developer. Then its just fine

The only problem with LLMs writing Elixir, is being Python-maxxed, they are SUPER defensive. "No, just let the process crash, it'll resume instantly with a clean state & recover, it's fine" is just incredibly confusing to them
