Most "queue" debates are broken from the first sentence. Job queues, pub/sub, and logs are not interchangeable. If you do not name the pattern first, you will choose the wrong tool and argue forever. #SystemDesign #DistributedSystems

Idempotency is not return 200 on duplicates. It means 1 request or 10 retries produce the same final state. Dedup keys help, but atomic state transitions are what prevent double charges, duplicate orders, and 3 AM incidents. #DistributedSystems #Payments #Backend

RAG is not a feature checkbox. It is an architecture decision. Sometimes vectors help. Sometimes grep, file names, and structure beat a vector DB. Chunking and retrieval design break more systems than the model does. #RAG #LLM #AIEngineering

Stop calling everything a queue. Job dispatch, pub/sub, and immutable logs solve different problems, fail differently, and need different tools. Many Kafka vs Postgres vs Redis debates are really 3 architectures hiding behind 1 word. #SystemDesign #DistributedSystems

At Databricks, agents now create 80% of new databases. Some projects hit 500+ nested branch depths. The database didn't change. The user did. "Agent-native" is the new "cloud-native." Your infrastructure isn't ready. #DataEngineering #AgenticAI #Databricks

OpenTelemetry just became production-ready at KubeCon EU 2026. Nobody noticed. Declarative config: stable Profiles (4th pillar): alpha eBPF instrumentation: beta Go Metrics SDK: 30x faster The quiet revolution. #OpenTelemetry #KubeCon #DevOps #Observability

Only 14% of orgs observe their LLM workloads. AI agents loop, branch, backtrack, and call tools that call other agents. Your HTTP request-response tracing doesn't work here. Discord's "Envelope" pattern for agent tracing is worth studying. #Observability #OpenTelemetry #AI

The 1,000x Paradox: Inference cost dropped from $20 to $0.40 per million tokens in 3 years. Yet enterprise AI bills are exploding. Why? Agentic AI multiplies tokens 10-100x per interaction. Inference now eats 67% of all AI compute. #AI #FinOps #CloudComputing

Two supply chain attacks in one week: Axios (70M downloads, North Korean actor) + LiteLLM. Both live ~3 hours before detection. 92% of orgs have zero visibility into AI agent identities. The 3-hour window is the new security metric. #CyberSecurity #AgenticAI #InfoSec

Anthropic's $200/6hr 3-agent harness beats a $9/20min solo agent every time. The secret? Context resets > context compaction. Kill the conversation history. Pass only artifacts. The harness is the product, not the model. #AgenticAI #SoftwareArchitecture #LLM

4. Track your comprehension, not your output. After a week of AI-assisted coding, can you explain the system's behavior without looking at the code? Can you predict what will break if you change a specific component?

When 27% More Output Means You're Actually Getting Worse. 1. A developer at a mid-size fintech company merged 27% more pull requests last quarter than the quarter before. Her manager flagged it in a performance review as evidence of "AI-augmented productivity."

3. 27% more PRs merged. 20% rise in after-hours work. 17% worse comprehension. The numbers don't add up — unless you reconsider what "productivity" actually means.

2. That same quarter, her out-of-hours commits rose 20%. She failed an internal debugging exercise she would have passed two years ago. And she told a colleague she couldn't remember the last time she understood a codebase change before approving it.
