I propose and discuss decolonial language awareness (DLA) as a framework for understanding and countering the erasure of Indigenous languages in the context of textual modernity.

Decolonial language awareness: a land-centred lens for confronting Indigenous language erasure. With Yaakthung youth in Nepal, it shows how land-based learning helps reclaim knowledge, disrupt dominant ideologies, and make space for Indigenous ways of languaging. Abs.=Nepali

In Jan 1972, my father's monthly salary as a college lecturer could buy him 1.4 tolas of gold. To have the same gold buying capacity, the college lecturer today would have to earn Rs 276,500 per month. Now think about that my dear colleagues who teach at TU and KU :)

"नेपाल सुनचाँदी व्यवसायी महासंघका अनुसार आइतबार सुन प्रतितोला १ लाख ९७ हजार ५०० रुपैयाँ कायम भएको छ।" According to Gorkhapatra of January 15, 1972, the cost of gold then was Rs 328 per tola.
