A binding referendum is how we ended up with MMP. The coalition needs to have a binding referendum for the Maori seats. It should have been done when MMP came in, but stupidity is long lasting

@Wired__One @nzfirst That's fair, it would probably have a positive effect for a while and that could be preserved if it's well managed. It's a negative feedback loop with Wellington unfortunately. An intergenerational slide to the left.

@randomuser123M @nzfirst There is a lot of truth in that, especially in regards to culture too. But I also believe that moving departments to the regions would filter out many of the ideologically captured individuals and replace them with more moderate locals over time. Wellington doesn't repeat NZ.

Given the shitshow that is the Wellington election results. For the good of NZ. I am calling on Winston Peters and @nzfirst to honour their 2016 commitment to move many of our government departments to the regions. Wellington can not be saved. Don't let it drag us all down.
