Finally, the dog yelps and runs off.
Immediately Willard checks his bag for burns, but it all happened far away from it. It seems that bag is of the utmost importance to him, though from the outside it looks like any other.

The white rat is curled in his lap and while Willard sits, he strokes him with a finger as they’ve both grown accustomed to.
He needs cash. Rather desperately, indeed, but he also knows he needs to move carefully. Tonight is only about picking out the next target.
