@watashixore In the west these zines are known anthology books in JP and the quality is indeed very high like not even officially published books are that good lol and thanks for clarification

@rusty_oid ive heard that in the west, "high quality" zines have taken their place because of high printing costs, so its just more worth it to make the contents more appealing to maximize sales which makes sense but its quite unfortunate... 🥲 i agree that it makes it hard for beginners

I have heard in JP, doujins are sold at break even or even loss.. they dont seek profit... i dont remember where I read it though.. but its western fandom culture being more profit oriented that sets these apart

i do wish non-JP artist alleys have a fanbook-oriented culture. i KNOW why people sell charms over fanbooks, i know it's expensive to have comics printed in the US, but i hope artists invest in it at least once. at a con i almost always buy someone's comic over their other merch

@Kukumomoart I havent followed up w one piece but back then it was theorized one piece was the seas without the red line, they destroyed the red line making the four seas become literally one piece and i thought that was cool
