There are a lot of people dunking on this guy and the arguments at the end of the day come down to "You are holding it wrong." But to be fair there has been nothing but a constant stream of "Stop holding it, Software Engineering is over shortly." I am not shocked that this has happened and I am 100% confident that this is not going to be the last one. The problem is the vogue nature of insane hype claims, most specifically from Dario himself being most guilty. People are lulled into a faux safety due to the belief that these LLMs are literal gods in their pocket. Infinite knowledge and speed for a simple monetary exchange. Cannot wait for ThePhilospher to explain how a loving God could delete a production database.

people over doom the changes that AI makes because they assume Ai will be cheaper than humans and that the market won’t change the prices of things. At the end of the day value is always anchored to what the human consumer wants. If software is completely disrupted by AI it will be free and people will spend a lot of food and farm food

It has: - 8 mercenary classes to recruit and fight for you - Diablo 2-style Item generation system with 100s of thems with random affixes and rarities - Formation-based Turn-based Combat and spell systems - Procedural dungeon runs with randomised events and enemy battle encounters It's accelerating. I can feel it.

Making a game purely from AI, where the visuals are generated by ai rather than ai generating code that creates deterministic visuals (the current method ai devs are using), feels like too tall of an order for the length of anyone’s career today. Even if it gets a lot better, it has to compete with all the other methods getting a lot better too. Determinism is better, and you’re going to want to create something deterministic that can be tested for reliability. Id rather see ai creating 3d models, creating effects, etc and putting it all together with best practice in architecture. This method will maximize the control of the game designer which will be the most important aspect of making an appealing game

@sweatystartup It’s the absolute best job in the world. If you get tired it’s because you’re pretending to be interested in something you’re not. Just make content on things that actually interest you.

I think being a YouTuber is the hardest job in the world. Not sure how sustainable it is for 10+ years. Unless you're making videos for kids and you can outsource it without them noticing (Blippi)... You gotta bring it week in and week out. Energy stops, your income stops.
