🇮🇱 The temporary ceasefire between the US and Iran and the announcement that Israel has agreed to negotiate with Lebanon for a cessation of hostilities are good news for the Middle East. I commend all parties for their efforts. Meanwhile, the Israeli authorities have announced 34 new illegal settlements in the West Bank and have decided to disregard the status quo of Jerusalem's holy sites. These are decisions going against the efforts to bring stability and security in the Middle East, especially in Israel. I am horrified to see Palestinians injured or killed by settler gangs. This is unacceptable. I call on the Israeli authorities to end their settlement policy, in clear violation of international law, and to end this violence and bring those responsible to justice. Furthermore, I reiterate my support for the role of the Hashemite custodianship. The status quo must be respected. @BelgiumMFA @BelgiuminIsrael
