When she interpolated “Father Figure” by George Michael, she could've just paid a one-time money to George's label for interpolation, but since George never owned the master recordings of his original music, she decided to credit him as a songwriter so that his estate would earn royalties forever from her song instead of his label. What makes it even better is that, on the song Taylor describes how the owner of her previous label, the same person who told her that he'd be her father figure, betrayed her by selling her music to Scooter Braun and how despite all that, “this empire belongs to her” since it's HER music
