@Paragraph212 @Rev_ADB Okay lol i should have known I was dealing with a true blue larper. I'm glad you have fun with totk. I hope we both get a good video game next time.
English

@squidsystem_ @Rev_ADB So, it's all stuff that exists in the new games (they do a better job tho), a story that isn’t about letting go off the past until the very end….and dungeons.
Yeah. Sooo much substance compared to the new games, lmao.
English

What a ridiculous comment.
The entire world of TotK was tailored for Ultrahand, Ascend, and Recall…
They aren’t “slapped on” you can’t even reach most of the sky islands without these abilities. The world was designed for these abilities.

@Rev_ADB All of the items you listed are designed around the world and the game that they are in. It has nothing to do with story, and everything to do with level design. Zonai devices feel slapped together and glued atop a world that was not built to accommodate them
English

@Paragraph212 @Rev_ADB Wind Waker, in addition to having a large map to explore and fill out, with meaningful upgrades that you can find and earn, has tons of side quests with memorable characters, a compelling storyline about letting go of the past that you are an active participant, and ofc, dungeons
English

@squidsystem_ @Rev_ADB Then tell me what in particular is "the substance" in a game like Wind Waker. Because what your saying literally just sounds like you consider dungeons to be the only thing with substance, since the Wild series objectively has more nuanced overworld content otherwise.
English

@skittybitty_yt skittybitty... save the Zelda discourse skittybitty
English

playing fes as ur first p3 experience would ruin the game for people no one playing fes in 2026
Artorîas@Artoras3
thing I made
English

@Paragraph212 @Rev_ADB No. That's a wild misinterpretation. I'm saying that almost all of the substance of BoTW/ToTK, compared to any other Zelda, is spread thin throughout a giant world. It's a mile wide but an inch deep. Every other Zelda uses what it has to go deeper and be more substantive overall
English

@squidsystem_ @Rev_ADB There is, but w/e.
Based on your logic, there isn’t any substance to anything that happens outside of dungeons, so games that have very few dungeons (MM, WW, Wild era) would all have no substance then?
English

@Paragraph212 @squidsystem_ @Rev_ADB There is no goalpost?!?? Yeah theres no winning against this guy

@art_jake @Rev_ADB The way I see it, that just makes it worse, because I think it would be way harder for a casual player to really be able to build a device that can be used realistically in a combat setting without it backfiring, or you just getting killed anyway and losing those resources
English

@squidsystem_ @Rev_ADB Oh don't get me wrong... We're clearly not "the average player" or "casual"...
But you have to keep in mind, parents, young kids etc... will play this game & actually be intimidated by enemies & not want to fully confront them.
I find it hard to think outside of my bubble :/
English

@art_jake @Rev_ADB Is there *anything* crucial in the sky islands? Nearly every sky island you visit is going to give you, at best, a shrine or a Zonai gacha, or at worst, basically fuck all. There's nowhere near enough in the sky to make up for how little you bother exploring Hyrule in totk.
English

@squidsystem_ @Rev_ADB See... They kind of counter your "bad world design" Point almost instantly with the sky islands themselves.
Nobody is ignoring them & they put crucial things up there for a reason.
They thought that through during development & it does show.
English

@squidsystem_ @Rev_ADB It would be bad game design to be able to have the creations for a super long time, as it would simply make the game WAY too easy.
& having it cost stuff makes it feel much more balanced.
But you also get two avenues to approach the builds being actual raw material or Zonaite
English

@squidsystem_ @Rev_ADB It rewards the player by making it easier in situations to either 1: Kill a monster you might not quite have the full capability to yet with your actual combat gear.
or 2: get to hard to reach areas with relative ease.
All ofc for a cost encouraging Depth Exploration.

English

@art_jake @Rev_ADB How does it reward the player? The game doesnt reward actually experimenting with them-if anything it discourages it by making it fairly expensive to make things just for the sake of it. All the cool builds you see get posted are fundamentally useless, and despawn within minutes.
English

@squidsystem_ @Rev_ADB Oh. I see.
In that case It's just a fun gameplay mechanic to give more heft to Ultrahand... It's kind of like... Well any gameplay mechanic? It's there to encourage fun & creativity that rewards the player for being creative... That's ... pretty easy to break down I think?
English

@squidsystem_ @Rev_ADB Okay, sure.
Ultrahand is used in a majority of the game for an advantage but in the beginning it's use to traverse areas easier, solve ways to cross waterways & create bridges Between sky islands.
Fuse can be used to reveal items, pathways & more.

Totk severely needed some things elborated on and instead they gave us a $70 oc fanfic and said "take it or leave it"

not everything needs dlc lol

@squidsystem_ @Rev_ADB Then you're just genuinely failing to understand basic game design man I don't know what to tell you. There are LITERALLY multiple instances in the early game alone that proves that.
English

@squidsystem_ @Rev_ADB The more real "problem" with the system is that a few simple and obvious solutions can solve essentially every problem in the game, but that's just Nintendo's design philosophy. You're always free to play a Nintendo game simply and boringly, or use your brain to find better ways
English

@json_jason_ @Rev_ADB Wh's the main motivation for Zelda now to try to find a stupid way to fly around or exploit the physics? Aren't these games supposed to be about like, exploring and puzzle solving? Why are we trying to glue a random ass car builder sandbox on top of a game not designed around it?
English

@squidsystem_ @Rev_ADB Yes, botw lets you fly on a tree with stasis or do insane shield shenanigans to do the same with bombs, but both are difficult to pull off and never encouraged or even shown to exist by the game itself
English
