🚨#BREAKING: Officials in Kankakee, Illinois have declared a mass casualty incident after an extremely large and violent tornado tore through the area hours ago. Authorities report possible fatalities and multiple injuries, with numerous homes and buildings suffering significant damage as emergency crews continue search and rescue operations.

First responders here in Lake Village, Indiana after a strong tornado moved through the area. Major damage on the west side of town. Not good…

Storms may start as early as 2pm, but the stoms will peak around 5-7pm this evening with tornado potential and then transition to a widespread damaging hail threat after 7pm through midnight across all of northern Illinois. The tornado risk may continue well past 7pm this evening. This is a very dangerous situation setting up across Illinois, have multiple ways to receive warnings!!! #ilwx

Evening HRRR runs show a dangerous setup across north-central Illinois into the Chicago metro, with supercells initiating along and south of the warm front tomorrow evening. Storms appear likely to develop near the nose of the shortwave and move into an environment with hot temperatures and record moisture & energy. Huge hail and damaging winds appear likely alongside the threat of strong tornados. #ilwx
