A v large tree in front of our house is being fully removed by council today yet, I swear trees release pheremones during this time and it makes me cry every time. Or I'm just sad and furious about a life being wasted for convenience.

When the scrub turkey moved in I gave up a bit on the garden, but I'm determined to live in harmony with my backyard dinosaur. Now breeding season is over I have been a little cheeky and raided his mound for the compost, I found a whole community of garden worms, SUCH A DELIGHT

So instead of walking meditation I've been plucking plants from the soil, making little choices, leaving only plants that: A:the scrub turkey's feet can't grasp onto easily B: are soft underfoot for me Eugenics at it's finest. For the greater good of course lolol

I wish I had taken a before picture of my garden but I enjoy noticing the tiny little incremental changes every day, the soil looks darker, richer, greens turning more vibrant, a leaf or two of new growth every day. My rocky, dusty back yard morphing into my own private retreat

Late last night, I passed my teenager in the dark hallway and he reached out, tenderly touched my eyebrow, and whispered, “Overplucked in the ‘90s.” I’m dead now.

I put some outdoor furniture I got for freeeeee in my front yard and instantly my house feels like a resort (not really but a gurl can dream)
