Items like àṣọ òkè, aṣọ ọlọ́nà, adìrẹ, gèlè, and fìlà are not just fashion, they’re part of our identity and heritage. We’ve seen countries like Ghana take steps to protect things like kente. We should be doing the same. This isn’t about exclusion, it’s about proper attribution, preservation, and respect. When everything gets blurred under a generic “Nigerian” label, distinct identities start to disappear.
