MINIMA CHIP ADVANCEMENT 🧵
Minima already runs full blockchain nodes on phones and low-powered devices. Now, it’s going one step further by working on a custom chip purposely built for edge decentralization 🚀
📅 This month, the team revealed a new initiative in collaboration with two of its "largest tech partners" and two "academic leading chip design labs" (names not yet disclosed). This collaboration has a goal to design a chip that makes running a Minima node as efficient and embedded as possible on all devices 📱
🤝🏾 The team is accelerating efforts towards bringing this custom chip to life because edge devices (mobiles, routers, vehicles) need a blockchain that is:
✅ Ultra light
✅ Energy efficient
✅ Fully peer-to-peer
This chip initiative is aimed at scalability and real world use cases. It goes beyond theory, and can impact use cases like:
– 5G routers → trustless telecom networks
– Smart homes → verifiable energy & security logs
– Cars → sync without internet.
Minima is making a statement with this move to prove that it isn't an average blockchain. It is an ecosystem where there are no validators, no mining farms, and every device runs a full node fit to serve it's specific needs.
The challenge: adopting this directly into consumer hardware and millions of devices⚡️
With the prototype underway, the teams are currently working towards developing a functional chip by the end of 2025.
If successful, it could set a new standard for blockchain hardware design built for decentralization from the base to the top.
It aims to support real-time validation on devices without needing a central server
👉Also, Minima has indicated that integration trials and commercial hardware tests will follow the prototype phase. It is a bold move consistent with Minima’s DNA that revolves around minimal code, maximal decentralization. The custom chips once achieved will bring the chain one step closer to the edge.
