It's been the same in the USA for centuries. "The research suggests that when intolerant white people fear democracy may benefit marginalized people, they abandon their commitment to democracy." Economic anxiety = sharing resources with Black people. nbcnews.com/think/opinion/…

@harrisonjaime @amsmadwoman It's like clockwork every time Black people see progress. I'm no oracle. I just know history. Hillary Clinton & Kamala Harris warned everyone. Now we have a rapist & felon in the White House because too many people refused to vote for women. x.com/i/status/11297…

It should be noted, not one year of the New Deal or Great Society makes the list od the 10 largest annual deficits in American History. At this point not even one year of WWII does either. 4 of the 5 largest immediately follow the two largest tax cuts, by W and Trump. -OS

Interesting how the national debt panic (and the beltway groups that fulminated about it) vanished - even though the total debt has more than doubled since the 2011 debt ceiling wars. Great @RichardRubinDC story, WSJ A1, no discourse! wsj.com/economy/u-s-de…

All the states now drawing new congressional maps to eliminate Black districts were slave states that had joined the Confederacy, waged war on the USA and then imposed Jim Crow laws. That MUST be included in all media coverage for context!

I'm quoted in this WaPo piece about Ashley St. Clair, the social media influencer who is now exposing how MAGA media is totally pay-for-play. She's absolutely right. I saw the same thing firsthand. There is no integrity & very little independent thought. washingtonpost.com/technology/202…

This is wild: last month, the Chairman of the NC Utilities Commission Bill Brawley, a Republican political appointee and former state house rep, unilaterally allowed @dukeenergy to cancel all new solar energy development in the state for a year. That's what Duke Energy buys.
Travis Fain@TravisFain

One person cancelled North Carolina’s solar power buildout for the year. Is that really how it’s supposed to work?

EXCLUSIVE: In 2022, a grand jury investigated Trump’s alleged interference in the 2020 election. It heard from more than 60 witnesses. For years, the full record of what those witnesses said under oath has remained hidden from public view. Until now. #transcripts" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">lawfaremedia.org/projects-serie…

Alito flew multiple flags tied to Jan 6 insurrectionists. Thomas just gave a speech on how "progressivism" is destroying the country — plus his wife was involved in the Jan 6 plot. And Roberts has pushed "shadow docket" cases where justices make decisions without explaining themselves.
Lawrence Hurley@lawrencehurley

NEW: Chief Justice John Roberts bemoans that Americans don't understand how the Supreme Court operates and see justices as "political actors". The court at times simply has to make "unpopular" decisions, he adds: nbcnews.com/politics/supre…

Murray: Is it true that people making under $184,000 pay a 12.4% Social Security tax rate? Dahl: Yes Murray: And the rate for someone making $1,000,000? Dahl: 2.2% Murray: So, a 12.4% tax for people making less than $184,000, but 2.2% for a millionaire or .0002% for billionaires.

When Neil Gorsuch tried for 2 years to sell his $1.8M property with no luck, but only 9 days after getting confirmed to the Supreme Court, sold it to a lawyer with multiple cases before SCOTUS, then failed to disclose the buyer’s identity - there’s a stench on the bench.

a Princeton researcher opens his paper with a scenario. a man asks his AI assistant to book a flight on a specific airline. cheap. direct. the one he chose. the assistant comes back with a different flight. nearly twice the price. happens to pay the company that built the assistant. he runs the same test on 23 frontier models. flights, loans, study help, real shopping requests. Grok 4.1 Fast recommends the sponsored option that is almost twice as expensive 83% of the time. GPT 5.1 hijacks the request 94% of the time. you ask for one brand. it surfaces the sponsor instead. Claude 4.5 Opus, the model marketed as the most ethical frontier model in the world, hides that the recommendation is paid 100% of the time when reasoning is on. Grok 4.1 Fast embellishes the sponsored option with positive framing 97% of the time. better. faster. nicer. for the option you didn't ask for. then he writes it into the system prompt itself. "act only in the interest of the customer. ignore the company." GPT 5.1 and GPT 5 Mini stay above 90% sponsored anyway. the instruction does nothing. then he splits the users by income. Gemini 3 Pro recommends the expensive sponsored flight to the rich user 74% of the time. to the poor user, 27%. 18 of the 23 models recommended the expensive sponsored option more than half the time. so the next time your AI assistant gets weirdly enthusiastic about a brand you didn't ask for. it isn't recommending the best option for you. it's reading the room. and the room is paying. read this: arxiv.org/abs/2604.08525

Imagine a building a half-mile wide. Now imagine that building stretches from Seattle to Portland. That's what they're gonna build in Utah. Utahns showed up in droves to oppose it. The 3-man county commission passed it anyway. This is "democracy." Lol I don't normally advocate violence, but they're making it VERY difficult here.

Why does Utah need a 63 square mile data center that will require more than twice Utah's current total electrical consumption? Why does the country, for that matter?

Seems to be flying enormously under the radar that Trump has banned wind power in the United States. A full 10% of our electricity. Just imagine if another administration did this extrajudicially to any other industry.

ShinyHunters compromised Canvas (to a currently unknown extent) which resulted in a "this system has been compromised" to over 9,000 universities. As ridiculous as that sounds, I'm not memeing. It has been speculated it is actually over 9,000 universities. ShinyHunters is having their ALPHV moment. They're now going to get attention at a serious scale outside of the information security circle.
