Three juveniles and a woman are facing multiple felony charges in Logansport after police say they planned and carried out an armed "ambush" on the woman's ex-boyfriend. It happened on March 27 when police received a 911 call from a man who said he was just beaten at gunpoint by a group of "juvenile-aged" males, according to court documents. The man’s phone was left behind in the suspect vehicle which police tracked, located the vehicle and pulled over the driver. Ellah Brown and three juveniles — Jarel Rodriguez-Castro, Kaden Weeks and Jeremiah Gittings — were taken out of the car. Police found a gun on one of the juveniles and another gun under a seat in the car. In an interview with police, the victim said he texted Brown to get his belongings after their recent breakup. Brown reportedly said she would bring his items to him and met him in the parking lot of the victim's apartment complex. When the man got into the car, he said someone wearing a ski mask opened the backseat door, pointed a gun at him and said, "I'm going to kill you," before repeatedly beating him with the gun. The victim said the passenger door then opened up, and another person began attacking him with another person also standing outside. Court documents state the victim was eventually able to escape out the passenger door, but his sweatshirt was taken off him. The man said he ran back to his apartment and called 911 as the vehicle drove off. Ellah Brown, 19, is charged with: - Conspiracy to commit intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony - Aiding in intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony - Aiding in battery with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony - Contributing to the delinquency of a minor where the child commits a felony, a Level 5 felony - Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor Jarel Rodriguez-Castro, a juvenile charged as an adult, is charged with: - Criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, a Level 3 felony - Kidnapping with a deadly weapon, a Level 3 felony - Armed robbery, a Level 3 felony - Battery with a deadly weapon, a Level 3 felony - Intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony - Conspiracy to commit battery with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony - Dangerous possession of a firearm by a child, a Class A misdemeanor Kaden Weeks, a juvenile charged as an adult, is charged with: - Criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, a Level 3 felony - Kidnapping with a deadly weapon, a Level 3 felony - Armed robbery, a Level 3 felony - Battery with a deadly weapon, a Level 3 felony - Intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony - Conspiracy to commit battery with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony - Dangerous possession of a firearm by a child, a Class A misdemeanor - Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor Jeremiah Gittings, a juvenile charged as an adult, is charged with: - Criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, a Level 3 felony - Kidnapping with a deadly weapon, a Level 3 felony Armed robbery, a Level 3 felony - Battery with a deadly weapon, a Level 3 felony Intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony - Conspiracy to commit battery with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony - Dangerous possession of a firearm by a child, a Class A misdemeanor

UPDATE — A second man is charged in the death of 47-year-old James "Matt" Lushin, of Westfield, a well-known poker player, who was found shot to death inside his home on March 12. Westfield Police arrested Justin Jones this morning during a raid at a home in the 1900 block of Breman Lane, in Indianapolis. The Hamilton County Prosecutor just unsealed the case and shared the court documents with us. Jones is charged with: -Murder (Felony) -Conspiracy to Commit Murder (Level 1 Felony) -Armed Robbery (Level 3 Felony) -Theft (Level 6 Felony) -Dealing in Marijuana (Level 6 Felony) Jones is accused of helping Ronald Brown Jr. plan and cover up Lushin's murder. Brown was charged last month with murder. Surveillance, license plate reader data and rental records show Brown rented a Dodge Durango, scoped out Lushin’s home overnight, then returned later that morning to commit the murder, according to court documents. Jones allegedly helped Brown by concealing the rental vehicle’s license plate. Police say Jones’ fingerprint was found on the plate. Investigators also say Jones picked Brown up from the Indianapolis airport shortly after the homicide. As 13News previously reported, Brown and Lushin were reportedly involved in marijuana trafficking and with Brown owed Lushin thousands of dollars. Court documents say Jones was a third player in the drug operation. Police say phone records and messages between Jones and Brown showed they were in contact before and after the killing and were discussing their inventory of marijuana. As of this post, Jones does not have an initial hearing scheduled.

Less than two months after he was released from prison early after 30 years for a 1995 murder, a Bloomington, Indiana native is now back in prison. Dustin "Dusty" Turner was arrested by Virginia State Police and booked into Middle River Regional Jail in Verona, Virginia, on April 21 on a parole violation, according to online jail records. We have reached out to Virginia State Police for more information on what led to his arrest. Turner's advocate told me they cannot comment on his arrest at this time. In early January, the Virginia Parole Board voted 3-2 to grant Turner early release from prison. He was released on parole on Thursday, March 5. As WTHR first reported in 2004, Turner was convicted of first-degree murder and abduction with intent to defile in September 1996 for the killing of 21-year-old Jennifer Evans a year prior. Police found Evans' body nine days after she was reported missing in June 1995. Investigators would later arrest Turner and fellow Navy SEAL candidate, Billy Joe Brown, for Evans' death, after the young men came forward to police. Separate juries convicted both Turner and Brown in 1996. The men were handed 82- and 72-year prison sentences without the possibility of parole. Turner has long admitted to only help hide Evans' body.
