My uncle who's 50+ would always say women over 25 are old but men at 50 are still in their prime. Today in the group chat, he said he needed help from me and my sisters with housework because he's struggling with lifting and bending so I had to remind him that he's still in his prime and he shouldn't be struggling with simple tasks. if it's already difficult for him, it'll be impossible for us 25+ old hags unless he's expecting my dad to come and do it. Now my family is blowing up my phone.

In my 200 level, I had a lecturer who liked me a lot. He showed it openly and would often give me gifts. I told my best friend about him, and she said that if he ever asked me out, I should date him. But he never did. When our results were released, I was the only one who got an A in his course. A few others passed, but this same friend had a carryover. She later begged me to help her talk to the lecturer, but I told her I couldn’t discuss something like that with him. The next thing I saw, she shared our private WhatsApp conversation in our group chat, claiming I was dating the lecturer and that was why I got the A. The rumour spread quickly in my department, and a panel was set up to recheck my script. They did and I still had my A. I cried so much. That was the end of our friendship. It’s been 8 years now.

For years I used to hear about how many of the black Africans in SA are jobless due to laziness. It was a stereotype I hated cos it felt ignorant. Looking at the number of able bodies marching the streets on a weekday looking for foreigners, they really are jobless

I was running a construction project and needed sharp sand urgently.
Went to the dredging site. Sand being pumped straight from the river in large quantities.
I asked who owned the operation.
Chinese men bought the land. The river included.
Our river. Our sand. Their business.
I asked for the price. We agreed. Then they handed me a receipt.
Written entirely in Chinese.
I said I cannot sign what I cannot read.
They said drop the sand and collect your refund.
I needed that sand badly.
I signed.
They released the sand.
