why is counter strike so popular? like what’s the lore?

Before cod and halo. Alot of our first REAL fps was the og counter strike on Xbox. Obviously you had golden eye, perfect dark, doom, but modern FPS alot of us started on CS. I started sniping on cobblestone. Then if you track how fluent the movement is, alot of the "smooth-movement" we did on mw19, you can find that same type of corner cutting, and mechanics on csgo. Its top tier

@propism simply because all gameplay comes down to raw skill. there is no fancy crap and the barrier to entry is low. they dont try to reinvent the wheel either. not only that it for the past 15 years has ran on basically potato hardware so its been super accessible to the masses

most watched esport of all time, huge lore behind every player a and team. the peak of skill they show in tourneys go hard af. people been playing the game forever, like myself. and its one of the most satisfying games to play when you are good at the game, especially when shots are on.

@propism long story short it has one of the most rewarding skill ceilings where someone can jump in with no hours and get a few kills with a shotgun and as you log hours you are able to 1v5 clutch match point to secure a win for your team thats not even getting into the esports stories

@propism the fact that there’s so many different types of CS fans too. the 45 year old dads that played source since it came out, the FACIT grinders, skin enthusiasts, also just a huge casual player base. CS kinda has something for every type of fps gamer.
