I received some abuse because of the below tweet back in January, but the most disappointing part is how @CheltenhamRaces kept everything so quiet & due to the lack of confidence with the underground conditions, watered so lightly during the Festival.
We were all taken for fools whilst those who should have been more proactive instead of reactive, held their breath & crossed their fingers hoping they could get away with it until the end of the season.

All season @CheltenhamRaces has had ground issues in areas that have historically been sound. The managed top surface is very consistent with no slippage but something might be amiss underneath. A geotechnical ground survey needs to take place from the bottom of the hill, around the side shoots & up the home straight. The cost is around £6k which of course won't be in any budget forecast but if @CheltenhamRaces cannot afford to action this survey, then I will finance it myself. Some things are just too important to hope that, with a bit of luck, everything will go smoothly.
