10-8 Performance

The included high profile AOS optic compatible iron sights on my new @springfieldarmoryinc/@lipseysguns 10-8 Master Class 1911 provide a familiar and functional sight picture if you want to go old school and shoot irons.

Setting up a bunch more of the dry fire targets from @benstoegerproshop. I do a lot of dry practice with full size targets at real distance, but these reduced size targets let me set up a large number and variety of targets very quickly and get to work.

Letting the @staccato2011 C4X cool off while I top up my mags (with 10-8 base pads if you’re late to the party). I’m getting into a good groove using the @oakleystandardissue Meta Vanguard on training and match days.

I drop all the 10-8 base pads…a lot…so that you don’t have to worry if they’ll make it. These are a few of my dry fire magazines that are fully loaded with full weight dummy rounds, and dropped almost daily on the concrete surface you see here.

Another stage from this weekend’s 9 stage local match at @volusiagunclub. This was one of my better scoring stages and I suppose if I hadn’t thought I could roll into a 18 yd mini popper, I would have scored even better. #fortyfivefriday With this absolute stunner from circa 1990-92 @springfieldarmoryinc Custom Shop. This dual chamber comp build started life with irons, then had this Tasco PDP3 mounted in order to catch up with the explosion of red dot mounted double stack 1911 race guns that took over USPSA between '90-92. After Jerry Barnhart won the 1990 Nationals using an optic equipped single stack, we all tried to catch up and a lot of old comp guns got stuff tacked on while we figured it out. 📸:@akscott60

My new @springfieldarmoryinc/@lipseysguns 10-8 Master Class 1911 is spec’d out with cone barrel to soften the recoil in both .45 and 9mm. The 9mm slide is internally lightened to improve tracking in recoil, mitigating the bouncy sensation common in a 5” bushing barrel 9mm. For the “well this is useless because it can’t be used in USPSA Single Stack” people…sorry. You and the 1 other dude from your club can be angry at me. My @staccato2011 HD P4 had been the primary test bed for my newly rereleased 10-8 magazine base pad for the Glock factory 17rd tube. It is now a complete kit with the pad, retaining screw and washer, and ISMI 11 coil spring and will fit 20rds, locks back on empty, and can be seated with slide forward. 10-8performance.com/glock-magazine…

It's great to see the @Springfield_Inc /@lipseysguns 10-8 Master Class getting out into the wild! Remember to tag me in your posts! The square trigger guard is a source of common questions. The inspiration for it was from the 80's era OG's whom I admired as I was coming up back then - Pachmayr Gunworks, Armand Swenson, Jim Hoag, and many others. I have always loved the look and wanted to incorporate some classic cool into the design. The gun fits into 5" 2011 holsters, and you can check the pinned video for the holsters that I use.

This @staccato2011 HD P4 is my secondary P4, with only about 5000 rds on it. It is set up identically to my primary gun with a @trijicon SRO 5 MOA, and is also sporting the newly reintroduced 10-8 base pad extension which takes a standard Glock 17 OEM mag to 20rds. I am obviously biased, but the resulting size is perfect for duty and general use. You need one (or several).

One of the most misunderstood and underrated EDC options for 1911 fans is the @Springfield_Inc EMP 4" 9mm. With a heavy 4" cone barrel, it shoots far softer than you'd expect for an aluminum framed single stack. The EMP has a purpose built magazine and the related parts that span the mag well which are sized correctly fore and aft for the 9mm, which means it feeds extremely well and is smaller in the grip than a normal 1911. It fits in any Commander sized holster since the front 2/3 of it is normal 1911 dimensions.

After a lengthy redesign and testing, the 10-8 magazine base pad for the Glock factory 17rd tube is back! It is now a complete kit with the pad, retaining screw and washer, and ISMI 11 coil spring. I've been running these since last fall, leaving them loaded, dropping them loaded on concrete, using them with all types of ammo, and am extremely satisfied with the results. Got some 10-8 sights mounted on a borrowed set of Glock Gen6 slides (I did not have the bottom half). Despite the new optic mounting system, backup irons sit about the same as on Gen4/5 MOS. Pic 2-3 are a Gen6 with @trijicon RCR, Pic 4 is a Gen5 with RMR HD. Deck height on both optics is the same. Fit of irons to slide is the same as always.

@staccato2011 HD P4 with @red_dirt_usa F2 trigger and @trijicon SRO 5 MOA is a spicy workhorse. And since I get a comment about the appearance of the gun every single time I post, this is what a gun looks like when you use it. Get out and train.

My Glock 43X rides in a @hillpeoplegear chest mounted kit bag for rucks and runs. To me it is like that old hammer in the garage toolbox - you use it and it gets the job done, but it's not something you drag out for show and tell when friends come over. @oakleystandardissue Meta Vanguard provide the tunes and eyepro.

Great match this weekend with @sapsa_fl, 8 stages of fun and sunny weather. I had a better overall performance than last weekend's match, with one stage win in LO (3rd overall on the stage), and 2nd and 4th LO on 2 other stages.
