Sri Lanka is restarting ETCA negotiations it seems. Well paying IT jobs in Sri Lanka are already not that easy to find with the huge increase in graduates (and many are struggling to find internships too). If ETCA again includes free movement of labor for IT employees then we can look forward to this situation in Sri Lanka too: x.com/abhishekkar_/s…. Supply will be much more than demand .. and economics 101 will tell you what that will do to salaries. Sri Lanka will develop by paying people MORE, not less. WSO2 is hiring some people in India (we have to mitigate against perceived (and actual) country risk) now and our (LK) salaries are much higher than typical salaries in India for people with < 10 years or so experience. After that the curves cross.

Gr8 sri lankan managers dnt ask employees 2 work long hrs. They make it known that they hv 2 do so. Use words like we r family, this is a battle 2 do good for mother lanka nd complment only those workin long hrs. Loku talks abt startup this and disrupt that.

We need to rethink this culture of working so hard. It's killing us. Heart attacks and strokes are the number 1 killers in Sri Lanka and elsewhere. But many have no choice but to work this hard.
