Release El-Rufai or charge him in court, why are you keeping him in your custody – Sultan tells Tinubu The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has reportedly urged President Bola Tinubu to either release former Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai or formally charge him in court. In a video of a sermon circulating on X, Islamic scholar, Sanusi Khalil narrated that the Sultan requested that “Nasir should either be arraigned before a competent court or released on bail while investigations continue. The Sultan is not saying a perpetrator should not be punished; rather, he is requesting due process should be followed.” Sheikh Khalil also said the Sultan raised concerns over the deployment of American troops to Northern Nigeria, asking whether the forces were sent to train Nigerian soldiers or if a permanent base is being established in the region. “If a base is going to be provided for them, then why must it be established in Northern Nigeria?” Khalil quoted the Sultan. The cleric reaffirmed his support for the Sultan, stating, “We at our level can’t ask such hard-hitting questions, it might be tagged as disrespectful, but I am glad leaders like the Sultan are asking the right questions, and he will always have our support and prayers.”

Consistency in principles is the spine of character - once it bends for convenience, the whole body of integrity collapses. Yesterday, Malami was one of the architects of this Nation's doom. A paramount chieftain in the so called structure of criminality as her Messiah vehemently described them. Today, by the Messiah's desperate hunger for relevance - or is it validation? - I assume, the same Malami has now be canonized among the company of saints. He is now christened one of the builders of the same Nation he was once accused to have destroyed. Indeed, time exposes everything - especially those whose principles expire under pressure. Good Evening Severally...

Peter Obi has betrayed Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the Supreme Leader of IPOB. He maintains a close association with individuals responsible for keeping Nnamdi Kanu imprisoned, even in defiance of court orders. By prioritising his personal and political ambitions, Peter Obi has abandoned the struggle for Biafra and the broader fight for self-determination.

Clearly, the narrative that Yoruba people support Tinubu is a concocted dark lie. I have observed since yesterday, when the Eko57, a support group of Yoruba Actors and Entertainers for Tinubu, was launched. Over 80% of the commenters were disappointed and rained curses on the group. I have also seen that the ONLY Yorubas who support Tinubu publicly are either benefiting from him directly, signed on to one of his support groups, or are largely naive. And they are such a scanty minority!✍️

@IU_Wakilii Nigeria farmers are wicked. They always want to reap the citizens. We all supported Buhari for closing the border, but what did we get. I was happy for Buhari decision. What we want is cheap food. Same people are crying of hunger. Tinubu listened & open border. Let them cry

Dr. Muhammadu Sunusi, 16th Emir of Kano said “I know the decision to import food was meant to bring down prices, but it is counterproductive. It discourages local producers and weakens the domestic value chain,” he said. The Emir explained that relying on importation could erode the gains made in agricultural reforms and make the nation more dependent on foreign markets. He urged the federal government to prioritise local production and strengthen the agricultural value chain to boost productivity and ensure food security."

Yesterday SP Godswill Akpabio threatened the seat of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe over a possible defection because the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 is explicit about party defections, it says that a legislator who defects from the party that sponsored their election must vacate their seat, except in circumstances where there is a proven division within the party or a formal merger with another party. This is clearly understood but what is confusing and funny is that Senator Pam who represents Plateau North Senatorial District was elected on the ADP platform and he defected to the APC without presenting any clear evidence of a division within the party but Akpabio didn’t threaten him or his seat. So does that part of the constitution applies only when you are defecting to ADC, but if it’s APC there is no problem and damn the constitution? If this constitutional provision is going to be invoked in the case of Abaribe, then it must also apply to every other lawmaker who has defected under similar circumstances. The constitution does not grant anyone the authority to apply its provisions selectively or based on political convenience.

Professor Usman Yusuf has called on Bola Ahmed Tinubu to release Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai and charge him to court if there is any evidence against him. According to Yusuf, if the authorities truly have a case against El-Rufai, the proper legal step is to take him before a court of law rather than keeping him in detention under the guise of an ongoing investigation.

OFFICE OF THE HEAD OF THE CIVIL SERVICE OF THE FEDERATION ABUJA PRESS RELEASE FEC Approves Gratuity for Federal Civil Servants In a historic and morale-boosting decision, the Federal Executive Council has approved the implementation of a transformative Exit Benefit Scheme that grants retiring Federal Civil Servants a gratuity equal to 100% of their total annual emolument. Effective from 1 January 2026, this landmark scheme signifies a major milestone in the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening the welfare architecture of the Civil Service and ensuring that officers who have devoted a minimum of ten years of service to the nation retire with dignity and financial security. The approval followed extensive deliberations and technical input from an Inter-Ministerial Technical Committee constituted by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. The Committee worked closely with the National Pension Commission, the Budget Office of the Federation, and the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation to design a sustainable and impactful implementation framework. The Exit Benefit Scheme is a strategic enhancement to the existing Contributory Pension Scheme framework. It is specifically designed to offer a substantial financial safety net at retirement, strengthening long-term income security for Federal Civil Servants in Treasury-funded Ministries, Extra-Ministerial Departments, and Agencies. Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, commended the Federal Executive Council for what she called a watershed approval. She described it as a bold move that clearly shows that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration recognises the dedication, sacrifice, and professionalism of Federal Civil Servants. “This approval is a profound acknowledgement of the invaluable contributions of our Civil Servants who have devoted their productive years to public service and national development. The Exit Benefit Scheme significantly enhances the retirement package of our officers and boosts confidence in the Federal Government’s commitment to their welfare,” she stated. Mrs Walson-Jack also noted that the initiative aligns perfectly with the ongoing reform agenda to build a more motivated, performance-driven, and people-centred Civil Service. She assured that comprehensive implementation guidelines would be communicated in due course. The payment of gratuity to Federal Civil Servants is coming 22 years after the introduction of the Contributory Pension Scheme. This approval of the Federal Executive Council is evidence that the Federal Government remains firm in its commitment to policies that promote improved welfare, while institutionalising reforms that secure the future of the Federal Civil Service. Appeal Court Upholds Ruling Barring INEC from Recognizing PDP's Ibadan Convention The Court of Appeal in Abuja has affirmed a lower court's judgment restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing the outcomes of the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) national convention held November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State. The appellate court, in a unanimous decision, dismissed the PDP's appeal against the October 31 ruling by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court. The three-justice panel resolved all four issues raised by the PDP against the party, deeming the appeal meritless and frivolous. As a result, the court awarded N2 million in costs against the PDP.
