@puj_rit @Rothmus The harsh reality is that even if you made those non-teaching positions into teachers, there aren’t enough teachers to fill them. Especially in rural areas.

@Rothmus It’s a racket. Teachers have been complaining about this for years. They have overcrowded classrooms, no discipline, no textbooks and have to buy their own supplies while bloated over paid administrators load them with red tape and paperwork to justify their existence.

Since 1970, public school student enrollment grew just 8%. Total education staff exploded 84% with non-teaching staff up 138% (!!!!!) The massive growth in education spending was swallowed by bureaucracy. Not more kids, not better classrooms.

The thought that you’ll be able to get 500k+ student-athletes with wildly different opportunities for earning to agree on anything without having some Teamsters-style bureaucracy at the top that gets “influenced” by the entities they are bargaining with is dream that can only be had on 2 kinds of drugs: LSD and money.

While I don’t disagree that federal intervention would be necessary for student-athletes to be employees of public universities in some states, it’s not needed with a single, national employment agency. Student-athletes can be students of our universities while also being employed by that entity. Just like other students all over our campuses who also have jobs. Those of us who understand that a CBA is by far the best long term solution for college sports, have not been assuming help from congress. There is a way to do this, within the current laws of our country, that rightfully gives the players a voice and can be legally defendable. It’s working fairly well for the NBA and NFL. The longer we keep our heads in the sand about our legal reality, the worse things are going to get for college sports - a uniquely American treasure that I care deeply about.

Sen. Maria Cantwell says that those who believe that no congressional legislation will lead to collective bargaining must realize that a federal mandate would be necessary in some states for athletes to be deemed employees, which, she says, isn’t “going to happen anytime soon.”

@AggiesToday Next time he shows up at Kyle Field or DKR looking for a photo op at a big game, they need to tell him “just like you, we sold out.” “But I’m sure they’ve got a seat for you in Lubbock.”

The fact that College Sports Radio is still yapping about Sorsby is embarrassing. We’ve all moved on. Most don’t care.

Attorney Tom Mars: "Paxton's letter was full of misstatements. It was almost like a letter that had the antitrust section written by AI or ChatGPT. He (ended up) setting the table for the Big 12 to file a lawsuit in Federal Court. I’m sure he had no idea he was doing that. I’m sure when he wrote that letter he had Cody Campbell and the people at Texas Tech applauding him and thanking him. But that was a misstep of epic proportions to say the least because without that letter, there’s no lawsuit.... That letter became Sidley’s Trojan Horse."

@RossDellenger It effectively freezes the Group of Six out of any substantial growth opportunities. They’ll be left to scrape by or die.
