I like Anderson, I like Forest, I thought a draw was a fair result but Digne had a brain aberration and you got a great result. I think you are probably small favourites for next week. But I do think Forest fans in my replies are in denial about that tackle.

The interesting thing about the Anderson tackle is, the Bednarek red card for Porto (against Forest, coincidentally) was much, much less force. I don’t think Anderson meant it. But I do think he’s amazingly fortunate that’s not a red.

@Alex_Berwick You said the foul on Woods had much less force but it’s only an opinion and not one I agree with. The fact that 2 minutes after rolling around on the floor Watkins was running around like a spring chicken which suggests there wasn’t much contact

It’s the consistency. No complaints about Digne. Ball hits your hands in Europe, it’s a penalty. He was incredibly daft. Do I think Anderson was a vicious tackle? Not really. Do I think he’d have been sent off in most other European games. Absolutely. Would miss 2nd leg too.

We lost because Digne can’t keep his arms down! But it’s a bad tackle. It’s not controversial. It is. Good luck next week.

@jjmeemaa @SagaciousFellow Anderson’s backside got the ball after he’d made contact with the player. Don’t need to be odd about it, just admit it’s not a good tackle. I’d say same if it was a Villa player. Bednarek was rightly sent off for a high boot, but it wasn’t anywhere near the same force.

One last thought on Villa. I think we sometimes get hung up on the wrong things and wonder what our record is when we’ve fielded Kamara, Onana, Tielemans & McGinn. Spoiler, I bet it’s good…. That box is the ‘elite’ part of our team. #avfc

@Son_Lyme I want this team to finish strongly, they deserve it. A week to make the margins count. But also I’m not naive. This is Villa’s limit with these players. Maybe straining a bit beyond it. Change needs to come.

@Son_Lyme Villa are not the fifth best team in the country. Just like they weren’t only the 16th best under the previous manager. They’ve reached their level through hard work, top coaching, and making the most of margins. Sometimes those will go against us.

I am still chewing over last night. What gets me is Villa did not play poorly, or well, they played as they have been all season. What do I mean by this ...?
