Really grateful to the club, staff and fans for the support this season. Gutted we couldn't keep the club up, but I've learned a lot from it. Looking forward to what next season brings. 38 Games 10G/A 2600 mins 💛💛

Two mates made for life! Thanks for everything boys! Lets enjoy these last two games together! 💛💙 @LukeMallett97 @StefanMallett
AFC Sudbury Women@AFCSudburyWomen

AFC Sudbury Women can confirm that Luke Mallett (Manager) and Stefan Mallett (Assistant Manager) will depart the club at the end of the season following highly successful spells in charge. Luke will leave after 7 seasons of outstanding service, while Stefan departs after 5 seasons, forming a strong and successful management team during their time together. During their tenure, the club achieved back-to-back promotions, competed for three seasons in the FA Women’s National League (Step 4) — the highest level in the club’s history — and were crowned Suffolk Cup winners on three occasions, marking one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. Alicja Holland, CEO, comments: "A massive thank you to Luke and Stef from everybody at the club. Luke and Adrian Goodwin worked so hard to get the team up and running and competitive, with Luke's tenure spanning an amazing 7 years with the club. Although this season has been a struggle, Luke's commitment to continuing to fight and remain a positive influence in the women's section has been greatly appreciated. Luke now has a new chapter in his personal life to focus on, and I wish him the very best with his personal endeavours and his own playing career at Woodbridge. Stef joined his brother Luke shortly after and has been the calming influence to Luke's passion. Stef's administrative support to the Club Secretary and the team has been paramount to the running of the side. Please show your support for Luke and Stef at our final two games this season and help celebrate with them at the Women's First Team end-of-season presentation evening on Saturday 2nd May." Luke comments on his departure: "I’m personally gutted to be leaving, but it’s 100% the right time for me and hopefully the club too. From where we started to where we are now is absolutely worlds apart, and I couldn’t be prouder. There have been a few down moments but absolutely a lot more highs. From the massive clubs we’ve played against and playing in professional stadiums, to winning league titles, league cups and many county cups, it’s been one hell of a run — all while doing it with 45+ academy players coming through the ranks and playing for the first team. I’m grateful to so many people at the club and to have had them around me throughout. I wish everyone the best, and hopefully we end the 7 years with another trophy." The duo have two games remaining in their roles, starting with a trip to face Queens Park Rangers F.C. at Loftus Road this Sunday, followed by a County Cup Final at Portman Road on 20th May. Their leadership, dedication, and commitment have had a lasting impact on the women’s side, and everyone at the club extends sincere thanks for their incredible contribution. We wish Luke and Stefan all the very best for the future.

@AnglianFS @MrFooty12 Because the club have supporters? The have been treated very poorly but that's fine, fuck them eh, if you've bought into the leadership then so be it, you're not going to understand that, the fans don't deserve to know, they can pay their money but.. nah keep them in the dark

@Steve_Screech @MrFooty12 Why do you have to announce it? It’s a limited company. I see no value in announcing the finances to a wider audience. FYI I’m a volunteer, a sponsor, a very minor shareholder, a paying customer and a huge fan. You can put those in any order you want.

@AnglianFS @MrFooty12 No didn't say that, the club's existence is primary but you've got to come out and be honest about it. When has anyone come out and said we've had to cut the playing budget by 50% across both men's and women's teams, just be honest. There is a lack of honesty and openness

@AnglianFS @MrFooty12 I don't think a lack of football people can be a good thing at a football club, that's in no way inspiring. You need a strong grip of the finances for sure. The 2nd pitch for instance has come at a large cost which has hit the first teams. What if pitch 1 needs resurfacing?

@Steve_Screech @MrFooty12 So you’d rather the club went all out to retain step 3 at the risk of oblivion? Sure, it may take time to return, but you can’t return if you’re not in existence. When you say ‘football people’, I’m struggling. Do you mean ex footballers, or people with an interest?

@AnglianFS @MrFooty12 Certainly the Step 3 and National League days are way behind the club now. It's going to take a long time to rise back up again and with no football people in charge in the leadership then is there really the will to climb? It will be just be largely academy teams now, cheaper

@Steve_Screech @MrFooty12 And that may be true, but the club had been building on quicksand for a while and needed a firmer base. I believe the current incumbent board are the best suited for the needs of the club. It’s a question of round pegs in round holes. It hasn’t always been that way.

@AnglianFS @MrFooty12 Sure that was certainly a real loss. The overspending was aimed at certain managers but that is a poor look as all spending has to be agreed. I believe that a lot of the belt tightening is due to a large shortfall in the funding for the second pitch

@Steve_Screech @MrFooty12 I don’t think overpaying players would have had any positive effect on the whole club. Belts need to be tightened until the books balance. Harsh reality of business.

@AnglianFS @MrFooty12 There is a massive lack of transparency. There is clearly a lot wrong, both elite adults teams have been relegated and money has been clearly cut but nothing has been said. Why? Hints at blame on previous personnel. There are no football people in the leadership etc etc

@Steve_Screech @MrFooty12 Explain? What’s an arse covering set up? Which part of the leadership needs changing, in your opinion? Not disagreeing, or agreeing, just interested.

@FinlayJoeseph Yeah this was possibly our best performance this season. Worked hard as a team, some proper shifts out there. Noticed that you were taking all the dead balls, a brilliant improvement on some previous incumbents, showed great accuracy, even in a swirling wind. See u Monday.

@sibbo4 Why the constant cynicism Sibbo? Which are you, a failed coach or a wannabe coach ?

@mufc_warren @sibbo4 Absolutely no need for that. Tom was brought in as an assistant and subsequently thrown into the hot seat. As a proud man he tried his best to make it work but was unsuccessful. He’s inexperienced at step 3, nothing more.

@sibbo4 I don't think Chelmsford would be interested in coaches who are out of their depth at step 3

@AFCSudburyWomen @FAWNL A fantastic group and I have absolutely no doubt in their ability to bounce back. The Academy girls coming through are also a breathe of fresh air and certainly ones for the future. A sad day. But certainly look forward to seeing this team return to where they should be! 💛💙
