A lady diagnosed with #hyperparathyroidism spoke to GP about reducing work due to extreme fatigue. He said it's likely caused by #perimenopause due to being 44 despite normal FSH. Offered HRT. Well, it couldn't be caused by #PHPT in his mind could it? She must be one of the 4%.

Lessons to be learned by doctors enforcing watch & wait for calcium 2.85-3.00. This self funded lady had pre-op calcium 2.61 & was very symptomatic. Scans showed one #adenoma. A scan guided surgeon would have left her uncured. The NHS is failing #PHPT patients. @wesstreeting

A lady in #Gloucester saw a new endocrinologist who actually listened to her. She described the experience as making such a huge difference, like seeing a spaceman after running around with dinosaurs.

We've heard from several members today with a return of symptoms following their 2025 #parathyroidectomy. Members asked if they had a 4 gland exploration. They all replied no. They should have. It's entirely their surgeons fault they have to go through this fight again. Why?

Yet another member failed by a scan guided #parathyroid surgeon @gloucester_nhs. Pre-op, she requested a bilateral exploration. She was told, 'we don't do that here.' So he rolled a dice, crossed his fingers, & failed to cure. She's now back where she started with scar tissue.

An endo delayed referring a #hyperparathyroid lady to a surgeon for 3 years & saved the NHS £10 recently by not testing #PTH. She collapsed at A&E today and was found to have multiple stones in both kidneys. A true reflection of the #NHS for hyperparathyroid Watch&Wait nonsense

ad • Welcome to beautiful Ålesund, Norway! Today I climbed Mount Aksla 🥰🇳🇴 I have been to Ålesund before but I’ve never made it all the way to the top. It’s a very steep walk but so worth it. When I visited here in winter the snow was to my knees and I had to have spikes on my shoes so I didn’t fall over. 🤣👟 There is also a little train and cars that go to the top for those who don’t want to walk. I like to walk a lot in cruise ports and the cruise ship stairs have prepared me well for hills! 👏🏼😋 Comfortable shoes are the most important thing for any cruise like this. 💪🏼🚶🏼‍♀️ We’re at sea tomorrow heading far north into the Arctic circle, what do you think I should put on my to do list? Appreciate any suggestions for things you like to do on chilly sea days. It won’t be sunbathing weather that’s for sure. 🤭❤️
