Cap and Player Value expert Yossi Gozlan (@YossiGozlan) believes it would take the LA Clippers up to three unprotected first-round picks to part with superstar wing Kawhi Leonard: “Four first-round picks and Collin Murray-Boyles. That’s what they’ll ask. And then it trims down to possibly three [first-round picks]. I think the Clippers don’t do this without three.”

@AutomaticClips I think analytics are directionally correct in their conclusions about Brown's impact, but I think analytics folks often explain it poorly. It's similar to how Jokic rates better-than-expected in some defensive metrics-- but that doesnt mean he's a lockdown defender LOL.

I generally agree with what "The Analytics" (broadly speaking) capture about JB's lower-than-expected impact. But we need to better express these ideas. Saying stuff like "7th best player on a team" contributes to the perception that analytics is detached from on-court reality.

I'm not a huge Jaylen Brown fan, and I think analytics accurately capture some of the limitations of his game. That being said... No one thinks he's "the 7th best player on a team" 🙄 When "analytics" are taken out of context like this, it does such a disservice to the field.

What sucks about that idiotic "7th best player on a team" comment is that people are now acting like Jaylen Brown is perennially disrespected & underrated. He is not. He's quite sufficiently recognized by national media & always well-represented in postseason awards ballots.

There's a lot of talk about Trae's max deal, but maxxing AD would be 10000000x more disastrous for the Wizards. Paying 27yr old Trae 30% of the cap is ~sub-optimal. But paying 33yr old AD 35% of the cap would be DEFCON1. Imagine waiving&stretching a quarter billion dollars 🫪🤯
