J’ai entendu le nom de Ghalibaf en 1999, à la suite de l’attaque des dortoirs de l’Université de Téhéran en juillet 1999. Ce soir-là, j’étais avec mon oncle et mon père. On attendait dans la rue, près d’Amir Abad Shomali. Nous ne savions pas s’il était à l’intérieur ou non… aucune nouvelle. Ma cousine avait aussi disparu depuis la journée. Deux jours plus tard, nous l’avons retrouvée en détention. Ce soir-là, sur ordre de Ghalibaf, une répression sauvage s’est abattue sur des étudiants sans défense, qui manifestaient pour la liberté d’expression après la fermeture d’un journal. Des jeunes ont été battus, arrêtés, et certains ont été jetés depuis les toits. C’était le premier grand mouvement étudiant en Iran après 1979, et il constitue l’un des tournants les plus marquants et les plus tragiques de l’histoire contemporaine de l’Iran. Ghalibaf est un criminel.

Yes the regime has supporters in Iran About 10% at best estimate..which translates as about 9 million people. Not a small number. They are the ones you see at the rallies BUT the other 90% must not be allowed to be held hostage forever by the violent, fanatical minority!!

Iran is not the Islamic Republic. Iran’s civilian infrastructure belongs to the Iranian people and to the future of a free Iran. The Islamic Republic’s infrastructure is the machinery of repression and terror used to keep that future from becoming reality. Iran must be protected. The regime must be dismantled.
