GET TO KNOW THIS KID: La Mirada baseball's Julian Pardinas. A sophomore, we first saw him last year against Downey (His FB on our radar was 83-85 with an 86 TOP, a new high for him. His CH was a bit faster, ranging from 76 to 80, and his SL/CB was 71-73.) On Thursday against South Hills, he reached a FB top of 90 in the 1st inning. In innings 2-4, he was consistently 85-87, with an 88 TOP on the FG and CH at 76-77. After a tough first inning in didn't give up a hit in innings 2-4 with 3 Ks and a walk and only one fly out. The improvement in his velo is hard to ignore.
