Well, last wash, sticker removal and deep clean done as the vRS is being returned tomorrow after 2.5yrs and 20k.
I will miss the incredible versatility of this 245 DSG vRS, it’s insane practicality and even the rorty fake engine noise inside. The stereo was fantastic, the ride was great, the boot cavernous, the interior a masterstroke in design and feel while still being built to a price.
There’s an innate feeling of solidity in this car, from the steering to the way the door thuds shut.
I won’t miss the infotainment. It has been reflashed, updated and replaced and still never failed to glitch on every single journey when using CarPlay. A few times it completely turned off and needed a hard reset. Just utterly not fit for purpose. Annoyingly its replacement has the same system… 🤦🏻♂️
I also won’t miss the gearbox hesitancy when pulling away from junctions. Given how quick the gearbox is at shifting and brilliant at all other times it’s just really frustrating when pulling away - either too slow and irritating or it just wheelspins.
Overall, I’d highly recommend the vRS, it averaged 40mpg most of the time, looks fantastic and again, practicality is beyond most cars its size.
New car arrives in a week, as I’ve still got the M2 press car for a week.
