OFFICIAL: Houston Rockets owner @TilmanJFertitta's company, Fertitta Entertainment, has entered into an agreement to purchase the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun, with plans to relocate the franchise to Houston and bring back the historic Houston Comets (@HouComets) name. I'm not the first person to make this point, but this play-by-play of the Washington Post's demise is hilarious. Bezos first completely ignores the Post. It does great during the first Trump term is the hub of the resistance.
Then Bezos parachutes in and demands all of these data-driven analyses, getting super granular about what is profitable and what isn't. "This article only produces a .1345 return on our investment!"
But then when it comes to the biggest decisions, whether to keep their endorsement of Harris, and whether to mold the Editorial section in his image, he's just like "fuck it, I'm doing what I want" and they lost hundreds of thousands of subscribers.
