It highlights the latest data on the different health benefits associated with breakfast cereal consumption. In the UK, this year's National and Diet Nutrition Survey showed that suboptimal D intakes and clinical deficiency are particularly prevalent in some groups in the UK population. A quick reminder: Before the summer recess, back in June, a systematic review on breakfast cereals and their role in diet and health was published. The key finding being that regular breakfast cereal consumption can make meaningful contributions to nutritional intake and is associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes in adults. Additionally, it is associated with a reduced risk of overweight and obesity across all age groups, including children, adolescents, and adults. mdpi.com/2072-6643/17/1…

A meta-analysis, included in the latest systematic review of breakfast cereals, shows that individuals with the highest intake of wholegrain breakfast cereals have up to a 28% lower risk of coronary heart disease and 26% lower risk of cardiovascular disease. Did you know? Eating breakfast cereals, especially whole grain and higher fibre, as part of a balanced diet may help reduce the risk of Type 2 Diabetes . A systematic review published in 2023, one of 51 studies analysed in the latest systematic review on breakfast cereal found that people with the highest intake of breakfast cereals had a 22% lower risk of Type 2 Diabetes compared to those who consumed little or no breakfast cereals.
