It's been a good run - several years - since the Field Geophysics class (GEOL 420) broke a cable in the field (luckily not too expensive). Not sure I can solder this one back together 🤔We had enough swings to get a good stack - but three channels were flaky. @CalPoly

Cal Poly Geology is collecting electrical resistivity data (with the mighty SuperStingR8) to characterize paleochannels in Morro Bay, CA, for a groundwater injection/recharge project.

@WyGeoSurvey Hello WyGeoSurvey,
The link to the arcgis story site about this post does not work - we were wondering if it is still possible to access it some other way? Thank you.

Split Rock is a prominent knob in the Granite Mountains on the Sweetwater River used as a landmark for pioneers on the Oregon Trail. The cleft in the summit was caused by the weathering away of mafic dike that intruded along fractures in the Precambrian granite. #Wyoming 1/2

@AdvGeosciences These are really useful to highlight in my field geophysics class.

Geophysicists use electrical resistivity to explore the Earth's subsurface for detecting #groundwater 🌊 and for #archeology 💀. See other applications and real AGI cases: docs.agiusa.com/46jMblx

Physical Scientist Marina Marcelli & Hydrologist Chris Ely recently conducted surface resistivity studies in the #MojaveDesert to determine the existence of a potential fault in the area, which had surface evidence but no subsurface investigations prior to this. #geophysics

@IRIS_EPO A great resource. We use them in our seismology class a lot - thank you.

GEOL 305 at Waterman Hills Detachment Fault (near Barstow, CA) we found the domino style normal faults in the hanging wall Fig. 4B in Glazner et al., 2002 Cenozoic Evolution of the Mojave Block in southern California (GSA Memoir 195, p 19-41). pubs.geoscienceworld.org/gsa/books/book…
