Blue Archive could’ve gatekept the game without the Nazism. Let’s not pretend like the BA community wasn’t going through some rough shit especially after the Anime released. The Uma global fandom is experiencing the inverse effect, where people care too much about fiction that their community mods are interested in policing spaces more than connecting with the community. Both scenarios are bad for different yet similar reasons: The similarity being, these communities fail at providing leadership that isn’t self destructive to their own fanbase. Blue Archive has turned it around a lot lately in that regard. People were very happy to see creators like Mint, who actually plays and enjoys the game, to do collab streams. That is the type of community leadership you should be looking for people to emulate.
