Did you know J.R.R Tolkien predicted exactly how the modern society would fall? How, you might ask? By telling us how Gondor fell into ruin. In his description of the decline of Gondor, we see the blueprint of a dying civilization. It wasn't an external enemy that rotted Gondor from within. They became obsessed with aesthetics, comfort, and memory, while losing the will to create. The death of vitality.
