First afternoon in the garden. Started with 2 straightforward areas. Firstly the fruit trees. I added to the weed- suppressant cardboard and topped up the soil in the planters. Not sure if the grape vine survived but the kiwi has Then I tidied the strawberry planters.

#Garden2026 continues with harvesting purple flowering broccoli It originally flowered in Oct 🤷‍♀️ but has flowered again when it should do A saxifrage is flowering in the alpine pots & my wood anemone has made an appearance. I keep it in a pot so I don't accidentally dig it up

Another week of Christmas die cutting. Today was all about trees. Why start so early? In November I will have 17 card making classes with around 6 people per class. They will want to make more than one card each.... #MHHSBD

Playing with die cutting again today. Trying out different card stock with new dies. I plan to make the embellishments for this year's Christmas card making class so I need to make a start so it doesn't get to be too onerous Then after lunch I made a Mother's Day card #MHHSBD

@SamaHoole Sadly there is no market for the amount of beautiful wool produced each year so a lot of us end up composting the fleeces. Everything is so backward.

"Vegan leather" is plastic. "Vegan wool" is plastic. "Vegan fur" is plastic. Every wash cycle releases microplastics into the water. Every year it degrades slightly and releases more. At end of life it will sit in landfill for four hundred years or end up in the ocean. The sheep, meanwhile, grows a new coat every year, requires it removed, and produces a fibre that has been biodegradable since the Neolithic. But yes. The sheep is the environmental problem. The sheep, standing in the Lake District in the rain, growing renewable fibre from grass. The sheep.
