They gave us Gorsuch, Barrett, and Kavanaugh who are shaping up to be more like John Roberts than Thomas and Alito. I want Mike Lee, Ron DeSantis, and Andrew Bailey in charge of the search committee for replacements. They would make sure the most lethal, right-wing, conservative justices are picked, more conservative than even Thomas and Alito, if that’s even possible. If we replace Thomas and Alito with more Barrett’s, we’re handing the Supreme Court over to the Democrats. I know he hates DC, but other than POTUS there's no other position in the entire federal government that has such an impact on the future of this country. So many decisions that can come down to 5-4 one way or the other. If he was presented the opportunity, not that I think there's a chance he gets considered by Trump if there's a vacancy, I think he'd give it some strong consideration. Until then he needs to find something to do and stay relevant on the political scene until 2032, because 2028 ain't happening either. I think he'd be crazy to even try running in 2028. It's going to be difficult for any Republican to win on the national stage unless the Democrats implode again, which could happen I suppose.

There's still to much MAGA who are never going to break with Trump. They're going to vote for who Trump tells them to. It's what they're doing with Donalds. There's some that have broken off, but nowhere near enough. Being able to win the primary is the biggest hurdle and 2028 is simply too soon to overcome that.

I can't see any Republican getting elected in 2028 unless things improve and along with the Democrats nominating someone simply entirely unpalatable to Independents and moderates. His realistic first shot is 2032. Until then Vance and Rubio have a leg up in the party and I don't think there's any chance Trump endorses DeSantis for POTUS.
