In honor of Nancy Ajram’s concert in Hollywood last night, here’s a throwback clip from 2012 of her singing the beloved Armenian song “Garoun Garoun.” 🇦🇲🇱🇧
Many Arab audiences recognize the melody through “Fatoum Fatoumeh,” an Arabic adaptation inspired by the Armenian song “Garoun Garoun” (also known as “Karoun Karoun”). The Armenian version is most famously associated with legendary Lebanese-Armenian singer Adiss Harmandian, whose 1970s recording became hugely popular across the Armenian diaspora, especially in Lebanon, Syria, and Middle Eastern Armenian communities.
