In Shia literature, there exist numerous reports suggesting that the ahlul bayt refrain from reclaiming that which has been usurped and taken from them unlawfully. This principle has been adopted as a ridiculous cope to justify and explain why Ali RA did not reclaim Fadak.

Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī, al-Suyūṭī and others. In reality, we can formulate assumption after assumption regarding the meaning of the report, but we will never arrive at a clear-cut answer - It will be speculation. And this is the crucial point I want to focus on.

We have responded to this report numerous times. However, one thing I have learned from engaging with the Shīʿah is that they are, by and large, simpleminded, slow, and unsophisticated. Their thinking is quite immature, and their comprehension and mental capacity are limited.

Rahwayh, a famous and major 3rd century Sunni scholar, who stated that no authentic traditions exist in praise of Mu’awiyah. Ibn al-Jawzi mentions this in his Kitab Al-Mawdhu’at, vol. 2 pg. 24 and al-Dhahabi quotes it in Siyar A'lam Al Nubala, vol. 3 pg. 132: I heard Ibn Rahwayh say: There is nothing authentic from the Prophet ﷺ regarding the virtue of Mu’awiya. 2. Al-Tabari is the famous scholar who authored the Tafsir and Tarikh al-Tabari. He cursed Mu’awiyah, and wrote this in Tarikh al-Tabari, vol. 39, pg. 62 - 63: Ja'far died in the middle of the Caliphate of Mu'awiyah- may God curse him.

Read past the underlined section. Imam Ali ع immediately declares his camp innocent of Uthman's blood, then ends the letter calling those who rejected the proof after it was established al-Rakis, one whose heart Allah has sealed. That is not moral parity. That is a rhetorical opening followed by a verdict of spiritual condemnation against Muawiyah's camp. Acknowledging a shared kalima before pressing your argument is basic Arabic rhetoric. It is not a concession of legitimacy. Every debater since the pre-Islamic khutaba did this.
