@Gabino_Iglesias @StephenKing I recently wrote a book chapter on cult messiahs and "vampire" priests in Salem's Lot and taught on it for an undergraduate seminar and I had so much fun revisiting it. I even sent the finished chapter to Stephen King! I hope you feel inspired too!

I want to reread @StephenKing Salem’s Lot for a thing. Got this one a long time ago and it has moved with maybe ten or twelve times in two countries. I was gonna read it on the plane, but I think my copy has earned staying at home instead of falling apart on the road.

it's a puzzle: why does RFK Jr., or anyone, say such things? not only false, a lie, but such a dangerous lie. what is his purpose? why do people believe him? is there an "imp of the perverse" (E.A. Poe) that nudges people to think/say/do things that are totally irrational & impulsive & will hurt them or others? do they behave this way in order to confound other people, or experts? is it arrogance? spite? cannot be mere stupidity for even stupid people have some purpose.
